Corporate Responsibility

Many of Babcock's business activities focus on the long term support of high value, strategic assets and infrastructure where safety and environmental impact are important considerations.

Given this context, it is not surprising that Babcock regards the key themes of corporate social responsibility - stakeholder obligations, community relations, health and safety, environmental matters - as integral aspects of its operations and strategy. They are reflected in its policies, decision-making and business practices.

Health & Safety Regulation

Acetech operates in some of the world's most highly regulated industry sectors such as nuclear and rail. Our marine operations in the UK include the deep maintenance and refueling of the UK nuclear submarine fleet under the scrutiny of both civil and MoD regulators. Our UK rail business works in partnership with our customers and regulators in rail to reduce the risk of accidents on safety critical upgrade projects. We also operate in the civil nuclear sector at key operational and decommissioning sites across the UK all of which are subject to ongoing effective regulation. Our policy is to ensure that our businesses are fully compliant with Health and Safety legislation and to work hand - in - hand with the regulators to improve performance and standards.
